About Perk

I’ve been writing and telling God stories for at least 30 years. I am 61 years old, so I have known Him personally for half my life. He has known me since before I was born. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by Him. (Psalm 139)

Through this blog, you’ll get to know me and God more and more. I am a mother, I am a daughter, and a sister, and an Aunt.

I have the coolest job in the world. I am a Mother/Baby nurse. I take care of Moms and Dads and babies, and all their friends and relatives for the first few days of their new lives.

But what I do is not who I am. I am human- so I am not perfect. But one of the best adjectives that describes me is Perky. I am Perky Patty. That is how I got the nickname, Perk. I was in a group of strangers, and we were all on a Christian retreat. We were supposed to go around this small circle of strangers and introduce ourselves. Well, I have a crappy memory, so I usually ask people to describe themselves while introducing themselves, with the first letter of their name. So Betty might say, “Well, I am bubbly Betty.”  Sara might say, “OK. I am silly Sara.”  So, at this retreat, I asked if we could all introduce ourselves like this so we could remember all our names better, and learn a character trait about each other as well. Best retreat I can ever recall!

My kids, who were in high school at the time, liked the nickname, Perk, and it stuck. To this day, my kids and all their friends call me Perk.

And I am best friends with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. God is alive and well and living everywhere. He communicates with me and others through a variety of ways. Rather than spell it out all at once, we (God and I) have decided to share our stories so you get to know the practical side of God. Read the Bible, talk genuinely to others, and trust Him. You and He will also get to know Him in those ways.

Oh yea- God is a better writer than I am. I am merely His instrument. I hope and pray that these God stories will sound like music to your ears, and feel like velvet hugs.
